Surf Lessons with Expert Instructors

Surfing in small (max 6) groups, you will learn all of the surf basics including; warm up, paddling, catching waves and standing up!

Waves EPIC Day Trips are run at a private beach where the waves are crowd free, ensuring more safety in the water than the more crowded Sydney Beaches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is surfing equipment included?

Yes, you will be provided with a wetsuit and surfboard for every surfing lesson included in this package. You will need to pack your own hat, sunscreen, water bottle, towel and swimsuit.

  • Weekly lessons in Sydney: You can choose when to take your surf lessons to best suit your personal schedule. They could be in the early morning before school, in the late afternoons after school or at the weekend.
  • Full day surf trip & surf camp: these two experiences will take place on two separate weekends during the first 4 weeks of your English course.
  • Weekly lessons in Sydney: These lessons take place in Bondi or Maroubra beach, a 40-55 minute commute to ELC. You will need to make your own way there by public transport but our student services team can help you plan your trip.
  • Full day surf trip & surf camp: You’ll be picked up from the city centre and taken to the more remote beaches and back, either by coach or by train. You just need to make your way from your accommodation to the pick up point.

You will get to experience different teaching styles and tips by a number of professional instructors. The weekly lessons in Sydney are delivered by Let’s Go Surfing, whereas the weekend day trip is delivered by Waves Surf School and the weekend away is delivered by Surf Camp Australia.

We recommend a minimum English level of B1+ in order to easily understand water safety instructions.

For an easy access to the weekly surf lessons in Bondi or Maroubra beach, we recommend that you opt for accommodation in the city centre, such as our ELC Premium Apartment (Scape student residence) or the Link2 shared student apartments. A homestay placement in the eastern suburbs might be possible, but this will depend on your other homestay requirements. Please enquire at the time of enrolment.
